MCP server
ZeroCarbon in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini
ZeroCarbon's greenhouse-gas calculators, EU CBAM default values and BRSR Core indicators, as tools any AI assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol can call. Every figure comes from a published emission factor, cited with its source and edition. No account is needed.

No authentication for the tools below. MCP 2025-11-25; older protocol versions are negotiated.
Tools
| calculate_electricity_emissions | Scope 2 (location-based) emissions of grid electricity from kWh and the country, using that country's published grid factor. |
| calculate_fuel_emissions | Scope 1 emissions from diesel, petrol, natural gas, LPG, CNG, coal or furnace oil, with unit conversion. |
| calculate_flight_emissions | Scope 3 economy-class flight emissions from the one-way distance, banded short, medium or long haul. |
| calculate_freight_emissions | Scope 3 freight emissions by road, rail, sea or air from weight and distance (tonne-km). |
| lookup_cbam_default_value | The EU CBAM default value for a CN code and country of origin, with the year's mark-up, and embedded emissions for a quantity. |
| explain_brsr_core_indicator | What SEBI's BRSR Core asks for in its greenhouse-gas footprint attribute, and the assessment or assurance timeline. |
| save_to_zerocarbon | Only when you ask: recalculates your calculations and keeps them under a private link for 14 days. |
The six calculators and lookups are read-only. Calculators need the country: emission factors are national and none is assumed. An input with no published factor is refused with the reason and what to send instead.
With your workspace's API key
Send a ZeroCarbon API key as a Bearer token and the same server adds your company's own tools: about 30 read-only views (emission records, reports, compliance deadlines, CBAM goods, production and communications, ESG metrics, SBTi targets, forecasts, anomalies, suppliers and their submissions, documents, products) and around 30 actions (add a manual entry, invite or update a supplier, record CBAM goods and production, save ESG figures, set a target, review extracted rows). Each action goes through the same page route as in the app, with its checks: an API key acts at member level, so owner and admin changes are refused and named for you to do in the app.
Add it to your assistant
Claude
Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, then paste the server URL. Works on claude.ai, the desktop app and mobile.
ChatGPT
In Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced settings, turn on developer mode, then create a connector with the server URL.
Gemini CLI
Add the server to ~/.gemini/settings.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"zerocarbon": { "httpUrl": "https://zerocarbon.org.in/api/v1/mcp" }
}
}VS Code
Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json:
{
"servers": {
"zerocarbon": { "type": "http", "url": "https://zerocarbon.org.in/api/v1/mcp" }
}
}Cursor
Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"zerocarbon": { "url": "https://zerocarbon.org.in/api/v1/mcp" }
}
}Try it
- “What are the emissions from 12,000 kWh of grid electricity in India?”
- “We burned 800 litres of diesel in generators in the UK last quarter. What is that in CO2e?”
- “CBAM default value for CN 72083900 made in India, for 2026 imports?”
- “Save these calculations.”
Data and privacy
- The calculators receive only the values the assistant sends, such as kWh and a country. Nothing is stored from a calculation.
- When you ask to save, the inputs and results are kept under a private link for 14 days, then deleted. Anyone holding the link can view them.
- Requests are rate-limited per session and network address to keep the service available.
- The full notice is in our privacy policy; terms are in the terms of service.
Limits
- Flights use economy-class factors; route distances are not estimated.
- BRSR Core coverage is the greenhouse-gas footprint attribute only.
- CBAM default values come from the Commission's corrected workbook (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1740); no certificate price is applied.
